In the first lockdown winter, 2020/21, I put up an ad for pet portraits. It worked quite well, people would send me photographs, and I’d send them the finished painting. Sometimes that would involve comparing different reference photos to get it just right, and sometimes I would have to fix the light situation - especially if the animal had already left this mortal realm and taking new pictures was out of the question. I have some return clients and get some new ones every now and then, and I must say I do enjoy the practice! Animals are people, too, and if it’s a specific animal that had a place in some human’s heart, that is easier to grasp.
